New features, shops, and trails for the Winter Park 2017/2018 Ski Season
New in The Village at Winter Park
James and Parry’s: In Winter Park Resort Village, this trendy retail shop offers clothes for warmth, ensembles for fashion, unique gift selections, and memorable additions to home décor. Right across from our friendly polar bear, you’ll see this brick corner shop beckoning you in. Serious shoppers or casual walk-throughs will enjoy the stylish merchandise. This is a great shop for finding Winter Park logo wear to take home a memento of great times in the mountains. Open daily 8a.m. to 8p.m.
Coming soon: Crazy Mountain Brewery is opening a new taproom right here at the Winter Park Resort Village, 120 Parry Peak Way, between the Village Cabriolet and Zephyr Express lift. A new venture from the Edwards-born Crazy Mountain Brewery, they will now bring their series of craft beers and gourmet sausages to the Village. This Edwards, Colorado-based brewery is bringing their unique ales and lagers to our ski village. Look for the opening this ski season, then, schuss on in for a flawless brew after a picture-perfect day on the slopes!
New on the Slopes of Winter Park
Super Gauge Digital Screen Pilot Program: A revolutionary pilot program is happening right here at Mary Jane. We’re raising the bar, as you lower the restraining bars! Five chairs on Mary Jane’s Super Gauge will delight their riders with these newly installed digital screens that are a first in the ski industry. These handy screens will provide resort area pertinent information: such as real-time terrain openings, upcoming resort events, weather updates, and even CDOT info on I-70 traffic conditions. For this nation-wide digital debut, five lucky chairs are equipped with this slick technology from the Centennial start-up, Alpine Media Technology. Give chair 86 a go! On that seven-minute ride to the top, users can access the bright and visible screens to plan a route, avoid the busiest lift lines, and arrange an après ski date. Powered up on each pass on the bull-wheel, these digital screens may very well make your day on the mountain easier and fuller than ever before.
Sober Englishman: Crossing the top of the renowned “Drunken Frenchman,” this improved and renamed trail allows easier access from the top of Winter Park over to the Mary Jane trail. Past visitors may remember this as the exciting, but daunting “Do or Die” trail. This now Intermediate trail is a half-mile long, 20-feet wide run, that is snowcat maintained. Follow it from The Lodge at Sunspot, through the trees, to the top of the Mary Jane. Your post-ski boasts will include talk of disembarking the Zephyr, meeting up with a Sober Englishman, crossing paths with a Drunken Frenchman, gamboling briefly with a Gandy Dancer, and meeting up with the Grande dame, Mary Jane!
Waffle Cabin: This fueling station has been practicing the art of “Waffleology” at their spot in the Village central for quite some time. Now, these yummy liege style, warm waffles are being served up fresh on the slopes. If your hungry friends or famished kids have not already pointed the new locale out to you, the newest Winter Park Waffle Cabin can be found by the Looking Glass and Olympia lifts. Follow the scrumptious smells! Pick up an Original or add to perfection by asking for Belgian chocolate drizzle. Hot and cold beverages are also available. What a wonderful way to warm up and treat the family, and yourself, while up on the mountain. You can still find the original Winter Park Waffle Cabin in the Village at 15 Parry Peak Way. Another site is open at the base, on weekends, near Gemini Express. With three locations serving it up, it would be truly awful to leave without a waffle!
At Winter Park and Mary Jane, the legendary trails await, and the Village continues to make available the foods and drinks that delight their guests. Add to your list of favorite stops, or be one of the first to claim a brand new favored gem!
